FAQ

Why are your courses cheaper than others?

At NiTH we believe that access to learning and training in writing shouldn’t be determined by your economic status. We want opportunity to be open to everyone, so we keep our services fairly priced.

I’m not in Australia. Can I still register?

Yes! While our HQ is based in Sydney, we have editors and writers from all around the globe. Just read some of the short stories on our homepage, and you’ll see that Needle In The Hay is all about bringing writers together, regardless of their nationality.

When does the course start?

Nominate your requested start date when filling out the application form. It’s preferred that you allow at least 48 hours until start.

I write all the time, do I really need a mentor?

That depends.

If you already have the kind of success you are after, then you might not need a mentor, and might want to take a look at some of our other services instead. However, if you feel that you want to take your writing to the next level, mentoring workshops can be a great way to accelerate that growth. There’s really nothing like having someone in your corner who’s only incentive is to help you reach your goals.

Will I be published after the course?

In the three years that we’ve been around, NiTH has already helped hundreds of writers achieve their goals, from publishing short stories to starting their own magazines, completing manuscripts and publishing.

Our courses are designed to equip you with the skills to move forward on your writing path. We think publishing is a big part of that. While whether you choose to publish at the end of your course is ultimately up to you, we’ll do our best to guide you through your options.

Which course is right for me?

If you’ve never written a novel length manuscript before, or want motivation and structure through the complete process of writing your novel, then you might consider the 12 month writing course.

If you just need help getting over the initial hurdle of the first draft, then our 6 month first draft workshop is for you.

Got a manuscript that needs some work? Then our Existing Manuscripts – Polish & Publish course is the one you’re after.
