Brandon Sanderson ‘Reckoners’ Trilogy Slated for Film Release

If your a little sick of seeing all these goody two shoes superheroes cavorting around the big screen and saving the day then maybe it’s time to check out Brandon Sanderson’s Reckoners series.

Optioned or film adaptation by Fox Studios. Reckoners is set in a world where superpowers are a villians only affair. ‘Epics’ rule over a collection of city states while Reckoners, everyday humans, try to stop them.

Steelheart, the first novel in the series, pits new recruit David against a Villainous man of steel in an alternate reality Chicago.

Carter Blanchard (Independence Day – Resurgence) is set to write the screenplay adaptation while producer Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) will produce and is rumoured direct. The combination of YA and superhero adventure seems perfectly timed given how popular both genres are with film goers.

Meanwhile Brandon Sanderson continues to be a profilic writer, churning out novel after novel like some sort of robotic typing machine possed by some sort of obsessive devil.

I’ve added two new prompts to The Sci Fi Writing Prompts Page in honour of Brandon, and villaineous superheroes.
