Writing Prompt

We’ve all heard the stories about the fae kind, the pixies at the end of the garden. Frivolous creatures with a penchant for tricks and simple magic. They seem so benign. What girl wouldn’t like to meet their own real life tinkerbell?

That’s until you meet a real Faerie. Small, frail, and definitely a little crazy. Who knew they could be so vicious…

Short Story Contest Guidelines

Faeries are magical. Sometimes the rules don’t count

  • Due Date

    All entries due in no later than the 23rd August 2015

  • Word Count

    No more than 700 of your trickiest words

  • Prizes

    First prize receives feedback from the NiTH team on 5000 words from a manuscript of your choice.
    All short listed authors receive feedback on their story by request

Story Requirements

  • Characters

    Try to riff on ideas of ‘smallness’ and ‘powerlessness’ when contrasting your human and fae characters

  • Setting

    At the end of the garden would be nice, but there are no setting requirements

  • Special Requirements

Entry Format

Include the title, author name and contest name like this:
